Red Light Therapy for Neck & Cervical Spine

Published: Last updated:

The neck area is treated for cervical spine pain, muscle tension, thyroid conditions, and skin aging. The relatively thin tissue allows good penetration to cervical vertebrae, paraspinal muscles, and the thyroid gland. Both pain management and thyroid support protocols target this zone.

  • *Mid-size panels

Treatment Tips

  • *For neck pain, target the paraspinal muscles from C3-C7 bilaterally
  • *For thyroid support, apply directly over the anterior neck
  • *NIR wavelengths (810-850nm) penetrate better to cervical structures
  • *Include the upper trapezius and levator scapulae insertions
  • *Avoid excessive heat buildup near the thyroid
  • *Combine with gentle stretching and postural correction
Average session time: 10-15 minutes

Light Penetration Notes

The anterior neck has thin tissue over the thyroid gland, allowing excellent light delivery. The posterior neck has thicker muscle layers, requiring NIR wavelengths for adequate penetration to the cervical facet joints and deep paraspinal muscles.
