Red Light Therapy for Face

Published: Last updated:

The face is one of the most popular treatment areas for red light therapy, primarily for skin rejuvenation, anti-aging, acne management, and collagen production. Facial skin is thinner than most body areas, allowing excellent light penetration at red wavelengths (630-660nm). LED face masks provide the most convenient and consistent coverage for the entire face.

Treatment Tips

  • *Clean skin before treatment — remove all makeup, sunscreen, and products
  • *Red wavelengths (630-660nm) are ideal for facial skin due to thin tissue
  • *LED masks provide the most even coverage for full-face treatments
  • *Start with 10 minutes per session and adjust based on response
  • *Apply serums or moisturizers AFTER treatment, not before
  • *Use eye protection or close eyes during treatment
  • *Consistency matters more than session duration
Average session time: 10-20 minutes

Light Penetration Notes

Facial skin is thin (0.5-2mm), allowing excellent penetration of red wavelengths. The dermal layer where collagen is produced is easily reached by 630-660nm light. Near-infrared (830-850nm) penetrates to deeper structures including the TMJ joint and superficial muscles.
