Red Light Therapy for Arms & Elbows

Published: Last updated:

The arms are treated for conditions affecting the elbow joints (tennis elbow, golfer's elbow), biceps and triceps muscle recovery, and skin health. Smaller panels and wrap devices work well for the cylindrical shape of the arm.

Recommended Device Types

  • *Wrap devices
  • *Small panels
  • *Handheld devices
  • *Therapy pads

Treatment Tips

  • *For tennis elbow, target the lateral epicondyle and common extensor origin
  • *Wrap devices conform well to the cylindrical shape of the arm
  • *Include the musculotendinous junction for tendinopathy treatment
  • *For lymphedema, treat along the lymphatic drainage pathway from hand to axilla
  • *Combine elbow treatment with eccentric strengthening exercises
Average session time: 10-15 minutes

Light Penetration Notes

Arm tissue is relatively thin over the elbows and wrists, allowing good penetration of both red and NIR wavelengths. The biceps and triceps have moderate muscle depth. Wrap-around devices provide excellent 360-degree coverage for the cylindrical arm shape.
